Essay / The Pros and Cons of Genetic Testing - 708
There are several types of genetic testing that can provide us with a large amount of information about ourselves, our parents and/or our children (What is than the tests?). Personally, I see advantages and disadvantages. Anyone is able to determine the likelihood that they have a disorder or disease and begin to deal with it before it reaches a life-threatening stage. For women, it is reassuring to know whether or not a disorder they suffer from can be passed on to their children. They can also know whether their child is healthy or not even before birth. This also impacts how scientists treat diseases, since they receive a different result of the disease in its early stages and allow them to study it until a cure is found. But what happens when your private information becomes public? People will be treated differently because of the high risk of developing cancer in the future. In your CV, your past experiences and qualities will be accompanied by the results of your genetic tests which will tell the company if you will present a risk to them in the future. A new type of discrimination will be created in our society. A second major disadvantage of genetic testing is that people use it for "superficial" purposes, such as changing children's eye color and other biological characteristics that should not be changed. Beyond the disadvantages are the advantages, which is why I am all for genetic testing for medical purposes. Alcoholism is a delicate problem that affects many people around the world. This can be defined as high consumption of alcoholic substances to the point of becoming dangerous and dangerous for relationships. Withdrawal symptoms such as depression, anxiety, shaking, nausea and sweating are the main signs that you are an alcoholic (Smith, Rob...... middle of paper...... only with you and with family members who share it, so I was curious if I could have inherited it from my mother In conclusion, I am in favor of genetic testing if it is health related. Traits mentioned above are things I wish I knew so I could learn about it and deal with it before it becomes something I can't control. It would definitely make your life miserable to know that you are at high risk of having cancer before you turn 25, but you will know it is the most important part of curing any disease since the first steps are the most. Personally, I would prefer to know before the situation worsens like in its final stages and I can't. fight against this. However, I am very much against sharing genetic test results publicly..
