Essay / Why I want to work in the medical field - To make an impact...
I have experience in the medical field and when two of my grandmothers became ill, I helped them throughout along my journey. My heart is good, but the devil never fails to steal my joy. I am also the mother of four beautiful ladies, so yes I also have a lot of patience. I treat most of my patients as if they were my own family. All my patients deserve my respect. This is due to them and they demand it too. Having compassion, being king, understanding, helping, staying prepared and willing are just a few personal attributes one should have when caring for patients. I would say that dealing with difficult patients is like caring for children in a way. When they want to get what they want, they cry, scream, and do just about anything to get your attention. When dealing with a difficult patient, I will remain calm, respectful, and compassionate while remaining within my scope of practice. If I am unable to help the patient, I would find someone who could help them with their situation. Sometimes when a patient is difficult, it's because they may need something like pain management or just a little chat with a softie. loving care. One day, while working as a phlebotomist, I was walking past a resident's room when I heard cries for help here. I told the certified nursing assistant who was in charge of that room, she said, "She's always crying about something, girl." When I returned the next day, the resident had expired and I had already reported on this CNA what had happened the day before. After that, CNA was investigated and subsequently incarcerated. What happened was the residents' oxygen was low while she was calling for help. She couldn't ring the nurse in the middle of a paper......for my patients/residents. I've had a lot of experience with it throughout my life. As I was writing this essay at the beginning, I helped my great-grandmother and grandmother when they got sick. I know all the stages of the disease, how it manifests on the body and how people act when they know or have a good idea that they are about to expire. I can accept how they feel at this time in their lives. I know they are angry at these words and they ask, “Why me, why now.” No matter what they did to me, I continue to do my job and at the same time I remain compassionate towards them. After all, they need me, they need us. As a Patient Care Technician, we are part of the holistic care team. We need to keep them safe and make them as comfortable as possible. This is why I chose the medical field, I know that I will impact the lives of many people..
