  • Essay / Review: Star Wolves 3: Civil War - 1478

Introduction: I love games with spaceships and have played almost every PC game with a spaceship since the mid-1980s. Why do I talk about it? Because the game I'm reviewing, Star Wolves 3: Civil War, is just littered with spaceships. Does this make me more biased, or perhaps more critical? It's hard to say, but as someone who really enjoyed the previous two Star Wolves games, I was pretty excited to take a chance on this new one. Let's go ahead and take a look, shall we? Game Overview: Star Wolves 3 is a…space-based sci-fi action/strategy/RPG hybrid. *takes breath* What does that mean, exactly? This game mixes a few different elements into a fairly coherent whole. At the heart of the game is your control over your spaceships. You usually have an armed mothership and several fighters under your command. These fighters need pilots, this is where the RPG element comes in, as your pilots gain experience through combat, and these experience points can be used to increase their skills in specific areas , such as piloting, stealth, missile combat, etc. takes place in a fairly large universe with over a hundred star systems. You start the game as a lowly tugboat pilot, transporting goods between stations, until the story literally blows up in your face. From there, it's a story of intrigue where you make new friends, new enemies, acquire new ships, etc. The gameplay itself is controlled by a fairly simplified interface that hasn't changed much since the previous installment, which isn't the case. a bad thing since it worked well before. The game plays in real time, but you can pause at any time to give orders to your ships, which is very handy in combat... middle of paper... it kinda got me kind of brings out the moment because well. Overall, these are relatively minor issues that could be fixed with a patch or two. It's strange to see that a lot of these complaints were present in previous games, making them a little less forgivable, but again, these issues are minor enough that they don't generally hamper gameplay. In conclusion: Whole Star Wolves 3 has some problems, its positives definitely and fortunately outweigh its negatives. I had a great time playing this game, and I will continue to do so once this review is published, because I'm dying to see what happens next to these characters and the universe they live. I can easily recommend this game to anyone who enjoys space combat games, role-playing games, or tactical combat games, as this game successfully merges the elements of all three into a fun and cohesive whole..
