Essay / A critical review of the movie Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is about a young clownfish who is caught by a fisherman and taken to a dentist to be displayed with other fish. Nemo's father, Marlin then goes on a journey with Dory whom he met to find his son and bring him home. During their journey to find Nemo, they swim into many things, such as sharks, jellyfish, turtles, seagulls and a few pelicans. Say no to plagiarism. These species bond and interact every day. Some can be eaten by other species, but they still interact even if a piece is removed. In the film, Marlin who is a clown fish and Dory who is a royal blue fish begin a great friendship. They look out for each other throughout the film and when they finally find Nemo, their friendship remains and extends to the infinity of a fish's lifespan. I think in real life fish interbreed because their only mission is to eat and reproduce. Finding Nemo shows a lot of natural selection, especially Dory being a great example. Dory suffers from short-term memory loss, which causes her to forget things within minutes, sometimes seconds. With Dory having this problem, it can make her forget her surroundings, causing her to wander and wander. In the real ocean, Dory will have a hard time getting home. So she will swim and swim and swim, which will be dangerous because there are many species in the ocean that could eat her. Overall, she still remains positive and hopeful through it all. In Finding Nemo, Darwinism is not as accurate as it seems. It's supposed to be survival of the fittest, but Marlin and Dory seem to have proven otherwise, especially with Dory's short-term memory loss. It is said that only the fittest could survive, but despite everything Marlin, Dory and Nemo encountered, they still survived. When Nemo was flushed down the toilet, he was able to find Dory and he survived. This is incredible because Nemo has one fin shorter than the other, making it more difficult to swim through the waters; making it vulnerable to other predators. If Nemo were in a real ocean, I don't think he would be able to survive on his small fin, as it would be difficult for him to swim without getting captured or possibly eaten. I don't think this would happen in real life anyway, as clownfish are delicate creatures and swim together in packs, staying close to home. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. Despite Dory and Nemo's anomalies, they still survived and remained positive through it all. A lesson has been taught and learned. A family was reunited. Overall, the things that happened in this Disney movie would not be possible or accurate in real life. Regardless, it was a great movie. Works Cited: Ahmed, S. (2018).
