  • Essay / Global Warming and Climate Change - 722

Global warming is the increase in temperature on the Earth's surface. The planet's temperature is increasing and we are the cause. Greenhouse gases are responsible for warming in several ways, and humans produce them in various ways. Since the 1970s, 90% of warming has continued on the Earth's surface and also in the oceans. Although the predominant role of the oceans is energy storage, the term global warming also refers to the increase in air and sea temperatures at the Earth's surface. Global warming is increasing and the world is threatened by its effects. “The risk of catastrophic climate change is worsening, according to a new study by scientists involved with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).” (Biello) Threats ranging from the deconstruction of coral reefs to severe weather events like droughts, floods and hurricanes. They become more and more likely because the temperature change is already underway. Most people thought that global warming would only affect certain species and only certain parts of the world, but nature has unfortunately cooperated with our theories about the effects of global warming and climate change. There are many causes of global warming: In the case of deforestation, most of the warming comes from the burning of fossil fuels in vehicles, factories and electricity generation. The effects threaten our lives, the environment, wildlife is in danger, etc. According to the article: Deforestation: Facts, Causes and Effects “Healthy forests help absorb greenhouse gases and carbon emissions caused by human civilization and contribute to global climate change. Without trees, more carbon and greenhouse gases enter middle of paper...... Most of the global warming from energy is because most power plants burn fossil fuels, coal, etc. it goes into the atmosphere. “If the nation's climate warmed by 1.8°F, the demand for energy used for cooling would increase by about 5 to 20 percent, while the demand for energy used for heating would decrease by about 3 to 20 percent. 15%." (Energy) Global warming increases slightly in summer when it is very hot and people use their air conditioning on all day and night. Energy is also needed to pump, transport and treat wastewater and drinking water. Many of today's power plants require cooling water. In conclusion, global warming has increased significantly in recent decades. Global warming has many causes and leads to potentially deadly effects not only on humans but also on wildlife. The Earth is warming and the consequences are real.
