Cheating in BaseballSince the beginning of baseball, players have tried to bend the rules in order to give themselves a competitive advantage over their opponent. Even people who don't watch baseball know that players from 10 years ago were using steroids and players from this year were using biogenesis, but few people realize that cheating still happens . Gambling has been a part of baseball since its invention, but sometimes unfortunately it is done by active players or managers, not just fans. In 1919, there was a huge scandal involving the White Sox. The White Sox faced the Reds in the World Series that season. Eight players in the White Sox organization bet money on whether they would lose the World Series. Throughout the series, they were making mistakes on purpose to cause their own team to lose.
