In the article “The Insufficiency of Honesty” by Stephen Carter, the author describes that integrity is a form of honesty, even though honesty itself represents something else. This is why he considers these two virtues to be partly different. Carter realized this difference between complete truth and righteousness. Honesty is about telling the whole truth, but integrity is more about righteousness. Sometimes telling the truth can hurt someone, which can be a disaster. “The truth hurts,” but having integrity means not only being an honest person, but also having moral values, being able to put others first, and being able to keep your promises. To assume honesty over integrity is to devalue the greater meaning of the word, as the author stated that a person "can tell us in complete honesty what they believe without ever taking the time to determine whether what they believe she believes is good and reasonable »....
