The Philippines has been experiencing an insufficient supply of rice for several years. Although it is an agricultural country by nature, it still imports rice from countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, which contributes to pricing. Population growth is one of the reasons why the country is experiencing a shortage of rice as well as the natural calamities that have hit the Philippines in recent years, which have caused a slight decline in rice production. Not forgetting that practices such as unnecessary consumption of rice also contribute to the rice insufficiency in the country. Rice is a staple of the Filipino diet. Filipinos still choose rice despite the new varieties of food choices. It is also good for the body as it contains vitamins like E to replenish the skin, B vitamins to support and increase metabolism rate, zinc for immune function as well as carbohydrates, which provide energy to the body . These health benefits are important for the daily activities of Filipinos. Additionally, rice does not contain cholesterol and is low in calories. As stated earlier, the Philippines is an agricultural country. One of its main products is rice, which gives it economic importance.
