These people are called your friends or followers. However, they are not all your friends. These are people you follow. You've probably come across them once or twice, so in everyone's race to get more followers and friends, you've added them on whatever social media you use. This tracking of people is called ambient awareness, which is like being close to someone and detecting their mannerisms that would betray their upset (Thompson 587). Ambient awareness was created by things like the Facebook News Feed and the Twitter Feed. When people update once or twice a day, people who read them can get an idea of their personality. When someone who normally posts happy statuses suddenly posts something about how they hate life, it's so different that you click on it and read the comments people leave to find out what's going on in their lives.
