Essay / The Pros and Cons of Homosexuals - 1419
How would you feel if heterosexuals had their rights taken away? Gay people can't do many things that straight people can do because of their sexuality. Gays should be able to have the same rights as heterosexuals. In this article, we will discuss what rights are being taken away from them, what they are not able to do, and the impact they have had on heterosexual individuals. Although gay rights may exist in some states, they are more often discriminated against in most countries around the world. Let's talk about the human rights taken away from homosexuals. Religious rights are taken away from homosexuals; the right to marry is also taken away from them. Everyone thinks homosexuals are a sin and can't be Christians. They believe that if gays get married, then homosexuals will face daily discrimination because of their sexuality. Some hide their sexuality to avoid fear of discrimination. Studies show that more homosexuals tend to commit suicide than heterosexuals, due to their sexuality. They see professional gay therapists to help them feel less isolated. They surround themselves with loved ones who support their sexuality. They join groups that help deal with discrimination against their sexuality (Tracy). Homosexuals face discrimination at work and can be fired for this reason. Children at school also face discrimination from their peers because of their sexuality. Some parents of children of different sexuality also discriminate against them. They deal with it by talking about it to other people of the same sex. Some gay men keep it to themselves, so no one will know their true sexuality. Often, gay people date someone of the opposite sex so they can hide their true identity. Gay people tend to face discrimination by not showing up at school. They also try to skip everything, in order to avoid all the hate they get. Sometimes they even try to cope with it by trying to turn straight, in order to avoid receiving hateful remarks from people who disagree with their sexuality. Gay people try to deal with all the hate, but sometimes they can't do it when everyone around them is doing it. Sometimes individuals hiding their sexuality engage in discrimination against homosexuals. Gay people who engage in it think they can change who they are. In some areas, people are open about their sexuality, others are too afraid of being hated. Most people think that gays are born that way and should have the freedom to do whatever they want. Other people think they should be in prison and go to conversion camps so they can be "normal." Parents never understand why their child is the way they are, but most of them support them anyway. In most cases, families have at least one gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender member. Homosexuals are everywhere and they should be able to enjoy all the freedom and equality that heterosexuals enjoy. People don't understand why gays exist and they don't understand why anyone would want to be gay. Gay people are people too and they should be treated equally, just like people of different races. In 2014, Americans began to support same-sex rights and the idea that they should all be equal. The parents start having neighbors of the same sex and it doesn't bother them. Children become good
