  • Essay / Plot Summary and Book Review of Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Jurassic Park is a decent book compared to the movie. Although many today will not read the book because of the famous film, there are many things that are different. The basic plot is similar to that of the film, but it mostly begins in a different way. For example, it begins at an archaeological site in Costa Rica after unknown species of lizards attack the children. Even though the book and movie are similar, it is still important that fans of the story have read the original book as well. Say no to plagiarism. Before dying, the patient is asked what did it, to which he replies that it was a bird of prey. After researching a bit what raptor means, she found a meaning in English, which says raptor: bird of prey. The book follows a family going to a deserted beach where Tina, the youngest daughter, gets bitten by a lizard on her hind legs, which then leads Dr. Gutierrez to investigate the scene and subsequently finds a matching lizard carcass to Tina's description. . He then collects the carcass and sends it to the laboratory to see what spices it is and it is identified as a dinosaur. The remains are sent to Dr. Grant, a paleontologist who is shocked and then is flown away before he can investigate Isla Nublar further. The island is owned by John Hammond, who he uses to turn the island into Jurassic Park, a park filled with dinosaurs. Due to concerns about the island's security, Donald Gennaro brought Ian Malcolm, Grant and Sattler to visit the island to ensure its safety. Malcolm uses his chaos theory to support his answer that the park is doomed. Park computer scientist Denis Nerdy is hired by the rival company to steal fifteen dinosaur embryos, which will later seal the fate of Jurassic Park. Malcolm, Grant, and the grandchildren of Hammond and the lawyer made the automatic tour of the exhibits to visit the park. Due to the park being largely automated and electric fences, when Nerdy cuts off the park's power supply to steal the embryos, he shuts down the entire park. He then heads to the dock to leave, but is then killed by a dilophosuar when he crashes. Due to the closure, cars stop in front of the rex exhibit where they would soon burst out and eat Regis, injuring Malcolm, while running through Grant and the children in the park. Robert Muldoon, the park ranger, went looking for them to retrieve the injured Malcolm and take him back. Soon after, Arnold, the park engineer, turns the computer system back on, while Malcolm continues talking about chaos theory. Grant and the kids also return to the visitor center while finding a nest with eggs, although the dinosaurs are all "female". The power then went out again, this time freeing the birds of prey. The raptors then kill Arnold Wu and one of the raptors is locked in a freezer. With no one left to operate the computers, Tim figures out how to get the fences back online before the raptors can get into the lodge's skylight. Tim then calls the freighter to come back because of the birds of prey that jumped on board. Hammond is killed by a small group of dinosaurs. The Costa Rican National Guard then arrives to take everyone away and blow up the island. Jurassic Park is a very good book, although I was heartbroken at how different it was..
