Essay / Patient Ethics Essay - 723
Especially after the many years these people have to attend school. Therefore, I think this might be one of the reasons why doctors feel frustrated with situations like this, as they are trained to have the confidence to make the "right" decisions/diagnoses/recommendations . In my opinion, I think their autonomy as a doctor is being overlooked. However, times have changed and it is not possible for a doctor to force a cancer patient to undergo chemotherapy if they refuse to do so; there is always consent to sign. This is why I mentioned earlier that many ethical dilemmas currently exist in the medical field. Not to mention that some nurses also want to become doctors (nurse practitioners), but unfortunately their training (in years and practice) is not comparable to that of doctors; therefore, it may also lead to encouraging patients to question healthcare providers' recommendations.
