Nothing would be the same today if society had not experienced its most unprecedented transformation that occurred during the 1920s. This famous decade became later known as the Roaring Twenties. It takes its name from the epidemic that shifted the country from a country of conservation to a country of diversification. One of the reasons for this epidemic came from the use of fashion. This alteration occurred mainly in large cities in the west of the country, such as New York. Only later did the southern regions also merge with the new customs. Women who wore excessive jewelry and extravagant outfits tended to stand out, making them more desired by men and envied by other women. Author Elizabeth Hurlock described that fashion reflects how a person is perceived by society (Themes in American History). She also said, “One of the primary values of clothing is that it allows people to make themselves known in a way that arouses the attention and admiration of others” (Themes in American History).
