    The landscape of the United States, after the end of World War III and the worst recession in our history, is very different from what it was twenty-five years ago years. Millions of Americans died because of the war; our industry and infrastructure are seriously degraded. It was the first world war which took place partly on American soil, to which was added the destruction of our cities and our manufacturing base. Our government is still in disarray because many leaders were lost in the first strike and we are trying to recover from our "brain drain" of trained and responsible leaders that set us back for years. City, state, and federal government are devoting enormous amounts of economic resources not only to repairing broken infrastructure, but also to meeting the basic needs of the population in the wake of the terrible recession. which hit our country and the world after the end of the war. What was once a free market society is now tightly controlled, with the aim of making the best use of raw materials, labor and capital. The prices of many products are controlled and industries essential to production and infrastructure, namely energy and industrial production, are now under government control. The same goes for the labor required to produce these items. A national minimum wage has been established; unions were abolished. Wages for all workers, from janitor to CEO, can now increase no more than half the percentage increase in national gross national product. It is imperative, for the sustainability of the country, to ensure that every dollar invested in our society is rewarded.
