A recreation center is a basic standard at most universities. The University of Idaho Student Recreation Center is a valuable resource for students, offering indoor and outdoor activities tailored to the needs of many students. There are many universities that only provide gymnasiums, nothing more. The University of Idaho has one of the most modern, high-tech facilities in the Pacific Northwest, with attractions like an indoor climbing wall and indoor track. This state-of-the-art facility is free to any student, and it is even available to the public through membership. Managing, maintaining and gaining a reputation for a student recreation center is essential for a fully functioning recreation center. In order to have an efficient and functional student leisure center, many criteria must be met. Some of the most common and important criteria include: appropriate and safe equipment, competent staff, and a variety of activities and programs tailored to different student interests. A recreation center is essentially a collection of many workout machines; the equipment is at the center of the leisure center. It is good practice to support heavy equipment in the recreation center so that no one is injured while using it. When you become a member of the student leisure center, there are rules for your safety and for the proper use of the equipment that you must respect. You must wear appropriate clothing that protects you and the equipment, you must have closed-toed shoes, and you must always wear a shirt (there is an exception during basketball games). You cannot wear jeans due to their tendency to tear the fabric of the equipment.
