Tree bark skin, werewolf syndrome, stone man disease and gastroschisis are some of the most common medical conditions strangest in the world. These medical conditions range from skin that looks like bark to organs growing outside the body. Rare medical conditions are not well known around the world because they are not common; therefore they are not seen daily. One of the rarest pathologies is alien hand syndrome. Alien hand syndrome is where one or both of an individual's hands has a mind of its own. His hand does what it wants. Sometimes the hand “…may strike or even attempt to strangle its owner” (Scherer). Many theories have attempted to explain the origins of the disorder, such as actual aliens, but it is not caused by aliens. Instead, alien hand syndrome is actually caused by various types of brain injuries or medical conditions. Strokes, tumors or botched brain surgery can seriously damage the functionality of the brain, leading to alien hand syndrome, among other things. What most people don't know about alien hand syndrome is when the syndrome was first discovered, how the hand has a mind of its own, and the different experiences patients have. The human brain has two hemispheres divided into left and right hemispheres. . If one of the two hemispheres is damaged, communication between the corpus callosum can be completely blocked. As a result, full control of one hand may be lost, resulting in alien hand syndrome. Once lost, it is almost impossible to re-establish complete communication between the two hemispheres. Not much was known about alien hand syndrome when it was discovered. Two questions that most researchers were asking themselves in the middle of a sheet of paper... simple: dropping an object or accidentally hitting something could be an early sign of alien hand syndrome. Most people would dismiss this idea as an accident, when the reality could be the beginnings of alien hand syndrome. Alien hand syndrome is a unique medical condition because most people are unaware of its existence. This gets individuals thinking about other unknown diagnoses in our world. There are probably other pathologies that we do not yet know about due to the rarity of the diseases. Since the discovery of alien hand syndrome, scientists have found more information on how to prevent this condition. Despite these advances, there is no evidence that scientists can completely stop this syndrome, but perhaps future scientists can find a way to prevent alien hand syndrome from occurring altogether...
