35 Shots of RumLionel it's time to move on35 Shots of Rum directed by Claire Denis taken in Paris, France 2008. This film about the transition to a state of being beyond of design as well, helping to realize that moving about is a part of life. Lionel and Joséphine are a father and daughter who realize that moving on is the best action for the future. Lionel has a protective instinct towards his daughter and watches her closely. Lionel has his own way of communicating in situations where he has difficulty expressing himself both facially and verbally. His ancestors were from Africa, a country often known for its individualistic culture. “This could be part of the reason why Lionel expressed things that it was a sin to confide in others and therefore he could be more individualistic but also collectivist because they focus on families. " (Collectivist and individualist cultures.) Claire Denis explains on the subject "Lionel was afraid of being the only one to ensure his safety because he had no one else." (Claire Denis and Robert Davis). He had to protect her until someone came along who could protect her too. Lionel, as he gets older, needs to leave Josephine's help at home to allow him to live life creating new memories. He raised her well enough to know when to end a situation. He must trust her to make decisions and remember everything she learned from him. Joséphine and Lionel both buy pots of rice at the beginning of the film. He takes out his and shows it to her while she is happy and says it's nice and it's great do you remember... middle of paper ...... and that Lionel did well l 'raise. He can go ahead and drink as much as he wants now. Joséphine and Lionel have closed this chapter of their lives and opened one that takes them forward. They still have all their memories from the past that they will cherish forever.
