  • Essay / The Biophysical Environment of the Ecosystem - 1370

A tropical rainforest is a type of ecosystem that is found at approximately latitudes 28 degrees north and south of the equator. Forests are dominated by tall, closely spaced trees, with a mostly continuous canopy. This ecosystem experiences high average temperatures and a significant amount of precipitation during the year. Elements of the biophysical environment of the biome and their interactions with each otherEcosystems develop in response to interactions between biotic and abiotic components. Certain conditions in the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere must be met for the formation of tropical rainforests. Tropical rainforests receive a lot of rain because they are very hot and humid due to their location along the equator. This means that there is more direct solar radiation hitting the land and sea there than anywhere else. They release moisture into the atmosphere which returns to the ground as rain. It rains more than ninety days a year in tropical rainforests, and the sun usually shines between storms. The water cycle often repeats itself along the equator. The main plants in this biome are trees. Tropical rainforests store water like a huge sponge. In fact, the Amazon rainforests alone are thought to store more than half of the planet's rainwater, and much of the rainwater that falls on the rainforest never reaches the ground. . It stays in the trees because the leaves act as a shield, and some of the rain never passes through the trees to the smaller plants and soils below. Surprisingly, tropical forest soil is very poor in nutrients. This is because nutrients are stored in many trees and plants rather than in the soil. Tree roots bind the soil together, while the canopy protects the soil from heavy rain. W...... middle of article...... about tropical rainforests may include: educating the general public and future generations about the human impact on tropical rainforests and how they can contribute to save them, Restore damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have been cut down, Encourage people to live in a way that does not harm the environment, Create parks to protect rainforests and wildlife and Support businesses that operate in ways that minimize environmental damage. Small, simple actions can include following the famous environmental slogan “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”, eating organic food, purchasing products that use “CERTIFIED” wood (wood that has been cut legally), wearing jewelry that have not been extracted (such as glass), turning off all electrical appliances, reducing water consumption and using a reusable canvas bag instead of taking plastic bags to the store.
