DiMenna March 25, 2014 Comparison between Hamlet and The Lion King After analyzing the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare and the movie The Lion King, I noticed many similarities and differences. The characters in the film were similar to those in the play and yet different in other ways. The protagonists of the play and the film are Hamlet from the play Hamlet and Simba from the film The Lion King. The protagonists are both princes of their kingdom: Hamlet is the prince of Denmark and Simba the prince of the Pride Lands in Africa. The protagonists both have their fathers killed by their uncles to become king. The main antagonists of the play and film are Claudius, Hamlet's uncle, and Scar, Simba's uncle. They both kill their brothers to usurp the throne and want to get rid of their nephews to maintain control. The ancient kings both had wives who loved them very much, but the difference between the play and the film is that the queen in the play Hamlet loved King Claudius (Hamlet's uncle) and remarried him while the queen of Lion K....
