Essay / Flight MH370 Case Study - 1675
1.0 INTRODUCTIONOn March 8, 2014, MH370, a B777-200 aircraft, took off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing at 00:41, carrying 239 people on board, including passengers, 2 infants and crew members, was declared missing. by Malaysian Airlines (MAS). The flight was, however, supposed to arrive in Beijing at 6:30 a.m. the same day; Subang air traffic control reported loss of contact with the plane at 2:40 a.m., as reported by MAS. To this day, the disappearance of Flight MH370 remains one of aviation's greatest unsolved mysteries with many unproven theories. As the ill-fated flight MH370 remains missing, these unproven theories are increasing day by day; it is absolutely necessary to evaluate the author's reasoning when reading articles about the missing flight MH370. A series of questions can be asked to determine the validity of the author's claims and whether their reasoning is sound. Moreover, when it comes to important issues, the process of evaluating the author's reasoning should be approached systematically and skillfully. The first question to ask is whether the reasons given are acceptable in terms of truth, validity, fact, etc. Recently, Malaysia dropped in the 2014 Trafficking in Persons (TiP) report to Level 3, which is the lowest ranking due to the identification of 650 victims of human trafficking last year, but only nine traffickers were arrested and convicted; this surely justifies the drop in ranking. The second question to ask is whether the reasoning supports the conclusion drawn. For example, it was concluded that traffic jams were exceptionally intense on the first day of Ramadan; this was due to people rushing to their hometowns for their first 'sahur' and 'buka puasa' meals with their loved ones.
