The following presentation will assist this course in teaching a patient with hypothyroidism. The expected outcome of this presentation for the patient will be as follows: Each individual will verbalize their understanding of hypothyroidism and the importance of treatment compliance in the management of their hypothyroidism. Thyroid hormone balance is complicated and involves the participation of different parts of the body (Kaplustin , 2010).• The thyroid gland produces hormones that control how each cell in the body uses energy. It is located in your neck and is the factory that makes the thyroid hormone T3 (Porth, 2011). Its job is to wait for orders from the body's administrators, the brain, to tell the thyroid how much T3 to release for the energy the body needs. The pituitary gland is the administrator or brain of the operation. Does anyone know where the pituitary gland is located? That's right, the brain. The body is always about convenience and optimal functioning. The pituitary gland sends a signal in the form of TSH to the thyroid gland with information about how much energy (thyroid) the body needs to function (Porth, 2011).• The body's tissues are the workers.
