I believe that the progression of new media actually means that society is undergoing a form of democratization. Since new media means the ability to have on-demand communication and the ability to contact anyone, anywhere and anytime, this will naturally lead to democratization. The definition of democratization is essentially hearing the needs of the public and letting them speak for themselves. I have proposed three points that will illustrate how we will soon progress towards a fully democratic society if we continue to use new media in our daily lives. We now have the ability to talk to anyone at any time, we have lost our “face” but not our voice and we respond primarily to ourselves and not to others. It is these three points that are moving our society towards democratization. First of all, the ability to contact anyone, anywhere and at any time changes the way society functions. If we have any problems, you can contact the police. If you have problems in your neighborhood, you are potentially one tweet away from getting help from the mayor or his representative....
