Neoconservatism is a political movement that first appeared in the 1960s in the United States of America. They gained much more power after the Cold War and dominated world politics (especially foreign policy) for almost 15 years. Their foreign policy was mainly based on three ideas which are the use of military power as a decisive force in international relations, the interest of the Middle East and the view of global Islam as an enemy of America. In order to answer this question, this article will analyze the Middle East policies of George HW Bush (1989-1993) and George W. Bush (2001-2009) during their presidencies. This article will therefore study the role of the United States in the Gulf War. This article will discuss the September 11 attacks and their influence on Bush's Middle East policies. This is important because after the September 11 attacks, George W. Bush began the process of the War on Terror and decided to invade Iraq in 2003. This article also explores the aftermath of the Iraq War. The first part of the article will provide information on “Who are the neoconservatives?” and “What are their properties?” . The second part of the article will discuss the United States' Middle East policy during the Gulf War and the third part will discuss the United States' effect on Iraq during the Iraq War. Who are the neoconservatives? The term "neoconservative" was first used by socialists to criticize the policies of social democrats. But since 1980, it has been used to criticize modern American liberalism which has become slightly more conservative. In the 1950s and early 1960s, neoconservatives accepted the American civil rights movement, racial integration, and Martin Luther King Jr..
