Essay / The Benefits of Space Exploration - 1806
Aside from all the negative remarks made about space exploration, many innovations come from it. Space exploration has directly and indirectly contributed to the creation of new technologies and advancements that have directly benefited our lives. The challenge of space exploration leads to a continuous effort to design ever more efficient, reliable and efficient systems requiring the greatest ingenuity. Space exploration missions use the unique capabilities of humans and robots to achieve ambitious exploration goals. Maximizing the capabilities of humans and robots for the productivity of these missions drives advances in human health care, robotics, automation, and other areas. (International Space Exploration Coordination Group, 2013, paragraph 22) A large amount of technology such as GPS navigation, weather, cell phones, are all things that would not have been possible without the technologies created to space exploration. The truth is that every step forward we take in space exploration not only advances our knowledge of the Universe, but also shows us the new level that human innovation and technology can reach through it. (Jessa, T, 2009, para.3) In our daily lives, we are surrounded by a large amount of technology developed for space exploration. For example, the artificial heart was the result of experiments on the space shuttle and a partnership with famed heart surgeon Dr. Michael Debakey. The portable jaws of life used to save car crash victims come from the system used to separate the space shuttle from its booster rockets. Even the insulation that keeps our homes warm and energy efficient is based on the technology used to insulate the space shuttle.
