Essay / What is the theme of sin in the scarlet letter
Throughout readers' journey through the scarlet letter, we learn that sin presents itself in many ways and forms. Sin will always be a part of human daily life, and different people will have different responses and tactics for dealing with it. Some people may choose to embrace it, like Hester did, others may choose to hide it like Dimmesdale, and others may choose to rot, like Chillingworth. No matter how we deal with sin, it will always leave its mark as a reminder of the past. After reading The Scarlet Letter, one of the main symbols one will see for sin is scarlet.
