President Ronald Wilson ReaganRonald Wilson Reagan played an extremely important role in the history of the United States. Reagan did many things during his life that still affect American citizens today. Ronald Reagan is often remembered as the 40th president of the United States, but not remembered for the important things he did to make this land we love what it is today. Reagan considered himself an important historical figure for many reasons. Ronald Reagan is an important figure in history because he changed the country in positive ways throughout his presidency, he worked diligently to improve the country during difficult times, and he spoke on behalf of the citizens of the United States. United. February 6, 1911 was a happy day for parents Nelle and John Reagan, due to the birth of their youngest son Ronald Wilson Reagan. Ronald was born in Tampico, Illinois, where his family lived in an apartment above a general store (Foster). Shortly after Ronald's birth, his family moved to Dixon, Illinois, where they acquired a house in town (Foster). In interviews, Reagan describes his childhood in Dixon as "full of scrapes and adventures" ("Ronald W Reagan" 10). Regan attended Dixon High School where he studied economics and sociology. Throughout his studies, Regan worked, played on the middle school football team, and participated in school theater events ("Reagan" 10). Regan enjoyed his time as an actor in college and would soon get an acting contract after taking a screen test during his senior year of college (Foster). After his father's death, Reagan moved to Hollywood, California, in 1937 to pursue his acting career, leaving his mother behind ("Reagan" 11).
