    War is something everyone knows about. it's very important and chances are, throughout world history, there will always be someone affected by it at some point. Wars come and go, leaving behind many good and bad things, no matter how you look at them, weapons are always one of those things. Wartime is known for pushing technology to the extreme, including in weaponry. There have been several wars that have had an impact on future weapons, but the Civil War is the most distant one where you can still see a major impact, even with modern weapons. The Civil War took many existing weapons technologies, improved them, and standardized them. Around this time, new weapons technologies were also implemented to aid the war effort. Many of these advancements in weapons are evident today, thanks to the hard work of people during the Civil War. Infantry is arguably the most important thing you need for war. In previous wars, soldiers used what is known as line tactics. (Ben Judy) Line tactics basically consisted of lining up soldiers in rows and marching toward each other so they could snipe at each other. As crazy as it sounds, it was pretty much the most effective means of combat, considering the weapons they used. (Ben Judy) During this period they used what is called a smoothbore musket. Tactics changed and new weapons were implemented. The standardization of the rifle arose due to its increased accuracy, meaning the army then began supplying this type of firearm to the infantry. The rifle, as its name suggests, uses a rifled barrel instead of a smoothbore used by its predecessors.
