  • Essay / A review of my experience at Fargo's, a restaurant in Colorado Springs

In the summer of 2012, I went to a restaurant in Colorado Springs called Fargo's. This is a family-owned restaurant that has been in Springs since the 1940s and has grown in popularity. Fargo's is a great place to host tourists or just take the family out for a nice dinner. In this review, I will express the pros and cons as well as my personal views on the famous Colorado Springs restaurant. Say no to plagiarism. However, this could be the case as the restaurant is located in a terrible location. Surrounded by many unflattering one bedroom houses, one has to consider how nice the restaurant is compared to the houses. Once you enter the restaurant lobby, you are instantly captivated by the stunning wall designs and luxurious sofas while walking the red carpet to the seats. The restaurant has two floors of seating and can easily accommodate around 300 people. What's different about this particular restaurant is that you order your food from a window inside and sit down. All the waitresses are dressed in old feathered dresses that are reminiscent of the 1940s, as is the general atmosphere of the restaurant. There are luxurious staircases that look like they belong to an old mansion-style house. Once seated, you notice that there are mirrors all over the restaurant with numbers on them. When your food is ready, they will post your number on the mirror for you to come pick it up. It's a great idea, except that Fargo's is a pizza place that sells fairly large pizzas. The pizzas come out on pretty hot pans that can burn your hand bringing the food back to you. Plus, the pizza can easily spill while going up the huge stairs if you trip on just one step. I would much rather trust a waitress than myself to carry a lot of food. The main food at Fargo's is pizza and salad. They are best known for their huge salad buffet with tons of choices, as well as their plastic bowls that you get your salad in. Their food is average at best. The pizza lacks cheese and especially pizza sauce. The crust is quite dry and the pizza sauce reminds me of the cheap dollar pizzas I buy at Safeway. In other words, I've definitely had better pizza in my day. All the slices are cut small, so having six or seven slices in one go really isn't that much of a stretch. The only good thing about their pizza is the clunky pepperonis that are shaped like a bowl, giving the slice a much-needed upgrade. However, these pepperoni "bowls" often contain all the fat from the pizza, which certainly suppresses the appetite. Their salad buffet is indeed a buffet. The lettuce tastes like it has been sitting for a very long time and is not the normal green color you would think of lettuce. The salad toppings are good, but definitely lacking in flavor and variety. If you're not in the salad mood, there are other options like pudding and cottage cheese. The pudding and cottage cheese taste nowhere near homemade and are probably purchased at Safeway. Other than pizza and salad, there's not really anything else to eat at Fargo's, other than some spaghetti which isn't too special either. That being said, you don't go to.
