Our first destination will not be mainland Ecuador, but rather the islands to the west, otherwise known as the Galapagos Islands. These islands cross the equator and are home to all kinds of living creatures, including the famous giant tortoises. The Galapagos has some interesting inhabitants, including the unique marine lizard, the only one that can swim in the ocean. There are also species that are not known to live in the extreme heat of the world, such as the Galapagos penguin. Around the island over 400 species of fish are known and the snorkeling here is the best in the world, seeing these fish, sunken ships and maybe even a tor....
