  • Essay / Devastation of World War II - 1474

What exactly do you consider horrible? World War II was a terrible disaster for all countries involved. The number of victims remains a record to date. A staggering 63,185,500 total deaths, half of which were civilians (History of World War II). World War II was the most horrific war in history. The origins of the Second World War formally stem from the defeat of nationalist Germany by the United Kingdom, the United States, France and Russia in the First World War. the fact that they lost Prussia during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870. A new republic was formed and Hitler was now declared chancellor. He then blamed the cause on democratic government and those who were financially collected, such as in Jewish society. As Hitler rose to power, he eventually became dictator of Germany, making all the decisions. This only sparked protests in Britain and France. They were more concerned with enforcing the economic provisions of the treaty than its military restrictions. They felt the treaty was too harsh and Hitler wanted to settle the extremes. The first German conquest was also Austria. After Italy joined the Anti-Comintern Pact, thereby removing the main obstacle to an Anschluss of Austria, Germany announced the annexation on March 12, 1938, making it a German province "Gau Ostmark". Hitler turned his attention to Czechoslovakia. His first objective was to capture the Sudetenland. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain did his best with French leaders to appease Hitler, even though the United Kingdom had previously guaranteed the security of Czechoslovakia. However, the Munich Agreement allowed German troops to occupy the middle of paper......during the war, Allied soldiers discovered a number of concentration camps and other locations that had been used by the Nazis to imprison and exterminate approximately 12 million people. These death camps haunted those who survived for the rest of their lives. Then came August 6, 1945. A huge silver superfort named Enola Gay thundered through the air over Tinian in the Marianas. He flew over Hiroshima and dropped the world's first atomic bomb which killed 78,000 people (WWII). On August 8, Russia declared war on Japan. The next day, the world's second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. On August 14, the Emperors surrender was received by General Douglas MacArthur in official ceremonies aboard the mighty USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. It was the end of World War II. In conclusion, World War II was the most violent and devastating war in history so far..
