Essay / Teenage pregnancy: the path to ending it. - 1153
Teenage pregnancy is a subject that no longer shocks anyone. Humans are accustomed to teenage girls having children earlier in life because teenage pregnancy has become so common. For this reason, teenagers see nothing wrong with having sex with each other. Because of this assumption, many teenage girls become pregnant and the lives of teenage girls having sex change dramatically. The best way to end this problem is to make abstinence education mandatory in all primary and secondary schools across the country. Getting pregnant and having a child as a teenager is not what teenage girls want so early in life. However, as time goes by, more and more teenagers are becoming pregnant in high school. The reason behind this serious problem could be the lack of discipline in the teenage girl's home. A teenager's mother might have had it when she was a teenager in high school; therefore, the mother might not insist on abstinence at home. Another reason why this problem occurs is a man's ability to convince a girl to have sex. A man knows exactly what to say and do to make a girl feel special, which in turn will lead her to do things she normally wouldn't do to keep him in her life. Bill Hewitt states in his article “Teen Pregnancy ON THE RISE”: “Between 2005 and 2007, the teen birth rate increased by 5 percent. (In 2006, Alaska led the nation with a 19 percent jump.) » An increase like this must end. Adolescents' lives are radically transformed because they have children so early in life. This recent trend will end if abstinence-only education is taught as a required course during all four years of a student's high school education. Within a few years of ...... middle of paper ...... ts realize that he or she is special and that he or she must have respect for himself. Abstinence-only education is the solution to ending teenage pregnancies; therefore, this program should be implemented as soon as possible.
