  • Essay / GOVFACES: Connecting with our government officials

Introduction “Facebook was not originally created to be a business. It was built to accomplish a social mission: to make the world more open and connected. (Quote) GOVFACES premiered on Monday March 3 in Geneva, Switzerland. For today's teenagers, this could be considered the new Facebook. For politicians, the popularity of this site has not yet aroused interest. GOVFACES allows communication with representatives and their current offices. Since this site has not yet become a phenomenon, many politicians and citizens have not yet registered with it. Also, most politicians may not be active on this site. However, like any other social network, they must register. This site, like all others, has flaws, but also presents great ideas to people around the world. People around the world with a thirst for knowledge would see the bonuses this site could bring. With daily improvements, this site and support from other popular sites or mainstream media; it could provide the spark it needs to become a global phenomenon. This site, like Facebook, requires daily work, but with improvements it could become a very practical place of knowledge. MethodGOVFACES has a simple and easy layout. When a person browses the site to find a politician of interest, there is no difficulty. One of the political figures I was keenly interested in was Sonia Alfano in Italy. Despite the simplicity of the presentation, many politicians are inactive. This greatly hampers the site. However, even though many people are not active, there is still a language barrier that deserves attention. This site has many different countries, where English is not the primary language. GOVFACES is also not completely globalized. They are only available in the European Union. This c...... middle of paper ......uage on GOVFACES. The language filter would give people an easier and faster way to learn about politicians. Also, create the filter to adjust the usage of slang, which other countries use2. Completely globalize GOVFACES, so that every country can use this site. Many countries care about what happens in their country before that of others. If this were done, many more people would be interested in this site. Works Cited “Launching GovFaces at the University of Bath”. GOUVACES. Np, and Web.
