The Life of Pi is a fictional adventure novel published and copyrighted in 2001. The Life of Pi was written by Yann Martel. Yann Martel has won numerous awards for his writing, including the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction in 2001. He also won the Asia-Pacific-America Literature Prize in 2001-2003. Life of Pi was produced and made into a film in 2012. The novel has two sides, one being the story as told by the narrator, and the other being the man to whom the narrator tells the story. 'history. Most of the book consists of the story told by the narrator, but it is frequently interrupted by the listener. The listener describes his surroundings, the narrator's house. This indicates to readers that the story being told is not set in present time and that the main character of the story, Piscine Patel, survives his ordeal and leads a quiet and happy life with his wife and children in Canada. The novel begins with the narrator, Piscine, telling stories about his childhood. He talked about school and how he acquired the nickname Pi. The majority of these stories take place in his father's zoo in the city of Pondicherry, India. He tells several stories about the different animals at the zoo and talks about their many different behaviors and tendencies. He explains that man does not always understand animals. Pi also recounts how he came to worship three different major world religions, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. He talks about how, as a child, he encountered these religions and decided he wanted to be a part of each of them. It tells different stories about religions, giving the reader insight into what these religions are and what they are based on. For example, he says...... middle of paper ......l. Both novels feature young boys as the main characters. They both capture a feeling of loneliness for the characters and how they will live. Both novels have a similar theme of human instincts and how those instincts will influence people, but those instincts are equally important. Some differences include the number of characters in the novel. In Lord of the Flies, several characters play important roles and are heavily featured throughout the book, while Life of Pi is a story primarily focused on a single character. The way the stories are told is different, Life of Pi takes on different forms of narration, while Lord of the Flies is told almost entirely from an anonymous third-person point of view. I would say that these two novels definitely have more in common than differences, and they are both great works of literature..
