Essay / Violent Video Games and Aggression in Children
Over the past 30 years, playing video games has become one of the most popular pastimes in the world. Not only has the video game industry become a multi-billion dollar industry, but it has also attracted people of all ages. Even though children and adults play video games today, there are many questions regarding the effects of video games. Specifically, the effect that violent video games can have on children. Some critics argue that video games are direct indicators of children's aggression, while supporters of video games argue that there is no direct link between children's aggression and violent video games. Although many people have their own personal positions, this question is unique because it arises daily. Scientists and researchers around the world are continually researching the effects of video games on children. While this remains an area of uncertainty for researchers, parents should definitely be aware of what their children are playing when playing video games. Although many different case studies have been done all over the world, scientists have yet to prove that there is a direct correlation between violent video games and children's aggression. Since the beginning of this term, this is a question I have researched extensively. Despite consulting several scientific sources, I was surprised to find that many of my conclusions were quite consistent with each other. Essentially, what I discovered through my research was a bunch of statistics from case studies and the interpretation of those statistics by renowned scientists.
