As I finish watching "Crash" by Paul Haggis, I take a few minutes to collect my thoughts because I am impressed by how simple a film, but not direct, can leave one lost in their own thoughts, makes one think about how they treat others and how others are treated. This film tells the stories of the different races and cultures of Los Angeles. You get blacks, whites, Chinese, Latinos, Persians, criminals, rich, poor, working class, police, powerful, powerless who are related in one way or another by racism and by the way stereotypes have become an integral part of our daily lives. The “crash” makes a person who doesn’t believe those given a second chance change their mind. Watching this film truly transformed my perspective on different cultures – that we shouldn't judge a person based on their culture or skin color. As I saw in the film, the characters' assumptions kept them from understanding and seeing the real person standing in front of them. Stereotyping is an action we all do, it is programmed into us especially when it comes to people's race and culture, it helps us. ant...
