  • Essay / Hookup Essay - 1716

As the reading indicates, women are more likely to get a bad reputation faster than men from having sex or hooking up with too many people. So yes, hookups are bad for women's rights. Hookups paint an ugly picture for a woman and people admire it or the view can change in a split second. For example the “walk of shame”. The morning after hookup, the female leaves the male's room and everyone sees her. Automatically everyone will say they are having sex and assume what they want. Usually in high school and college, this is how rumors start. I believe that if someone wants to know the truth about a particular situation, they should always ask it directly. I believe that once someone forms an opinion about you, it will be very difficult to change their mind. Speaking from experience, a friend of mine prefers to connect rather than get to know someone first. Hence the meetings. I believe a lot of dating or the period of getting to know someone has intensified without any relationships in the future due to the decline in dating. And also, as we age, many parents find themselves excluded from their children's lives. It is similar to courtship, as the parent would give the man permission to hang out with his daughter and get to know each other better. So I think that no encounter leaves room for sex (one-night stands or hookups). Additionally, men ask women on dates less because they don't see the importance of a formal date or courtship. Oral sex and intercourse prevent couples from getting married or committed to a relationship because it seems easier to do and comes with little or no pressure. All these stipulations ruin the reputation of women and they tend to express themselves less or give their opinion.
