  • Essay / Argumentative Essay on Steroids - 1748

Most athletes will do anything to gain an advantage over their competitor. In 2005, a man named Victor Conty presented a list of athletes he helped bend the rules of professional sports. Victor Conty has named more than 250 professional athletes he has helped. The athletes ranged from Olympians to baseball players. Hospitals have been using steroids to help their patients since the 1930s. The media has created a paradox because they claim that if you are sick, hormones will help you, but on the other hand, if you are a healthy person, steroids will kill you. What people really don't understand is that steroids give you what you are willing to work for. Barry Bonds was one of the athletes named in the case and he didn't just inject himself and break the home run record, he had to put in enormous effort to try to become the best. He had to use his natural skills as well as anabolic steroids to progress to the point he is at now. The media also uses special cases and mentally ill people to further improve their program. Chris Benwa is a man who was a professional wrestler on steroids. He killed his family, including his wife and seven-year-old son. Instead of citing mental illness as the cause of this tragic event, steroid use was criticized for driving him insane and causing him to commit suicide.
