BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATIONChild abuse is a devastating social problem that affects all levels of the population. Child abuse poses a serious threat to the health, well-being, and safety of our nation's youth. Most abused children suffer greater emotional damage than physical damage. An abused child can become depressed, this is a serious problem. Since the last update of the series in the early 1990s, a number of new issues have emerged and significant changes have occurred in the systems of delivery of services to children and families, which were not reflected in the previous manuals. AUDIENCEThe target audience is parents and guardians. and relatives, while the secondary audience includes people who work with children. For example, social workers, health care providers, advocates, and day care providers. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF COMMUNICATION The objectives of communication are to: • Educate adults about what child abuse is and how it can be prevented. • Provide effective programs focused on individual behavior and attitude change. • Effective programs to end child abuse. OBJECTIVES The programs will provide education, support and counseling to help families stop child abuse.
