Essay / Public Transport Bill - 1155
BackgroundPublic transport is in serious need of a massive overhaul in this country. We desperately need to catch up to European standards when it comes to public transport in this country. In Europe, citizens can travel across cities, bodies of water, and even counties using their state-of-the-art public transportation system. Europeans are not as dependent on cars and oil as the United States, because they have the much more convenient option of using transportation provided to them by the government to get where they need to go. They have set a model for the United States to reach and achieve in the near future. The government spends billions of dollars every year to maintain and attempt to repair the system we currently have in place and yet the transportation problem is not solved. is improving. We are wasting time, money and resources with this wasteful system of trying to solve problems that are simply intractable and resorting to an inconvenient mode of transportation. Traffic, congestion, and accidents plague this country because each household owns multiple cars and each member of the household must personally drive themselves to different locations daily. It just doesn't work. Our roads and highways simply cannot keep pace with population growth and our current way of life. Mass public transportation is desperately needed to solve this problem. Goals of the Bill Plain and simple, the goal of this bill is to provide American citizens with the mass public transportation system they desperately need. Our goal is to make public transportation accessible to all Americans and make it a new way of life. Additionally, we are striving to reduce our reliance on paper......to meet new standards and people's demands. We are proposing that $5 billion be allocated to this portion of the bill intended for subways and light rail. Every dollar spent under this bill will be meticulously reviewed by congressional committees and experts in every respected field to ensure that no dollar is wasted. Each part of this project will be overseen by individuals hand-picked to fulfill orders and oversee projects across the country. We must be careful not to waste time and disperse resources. Projects funded by this bill will be scrutinized and will never be allowed to spend a dollar without government consent. With this funding and government oversight, we will be able to meet the challenges of the future and provide accessible public transportation to all American citizens in this great country..
