    IntroductionThailand, also known as the Kingdom of Thailand, is located in the center of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. Its neighboring countries are Burma, Laos and Cambodia. The capital of Thailand is Bangkok and the country is predominantly Buddhist in faith. In 2011, Thailand was the 21st most populous country in the world, with approximately 64 million people. Thailand is known for its breathtaking landscapes and famous tourist spots. However, what you may not know is that Thailand is currently facing a number of issues as a country; These issues can be summarized into three broad categories: environmental issues, human rights issues, and the southern Thai insurgency. Each of these issues harms both the Thai people and the very country they call home. In this article, I will bring you the facts of these major problems and the possible solutions that present themselves. Environmental IssuesOver the past twenty to thirty years, Thailand has experienced spectacular economic growth. However, in the case of Thailand, strong economic growth is accompanied by considerable environmental damage. Due to Thailand's economic growth, it has caused a number of environmental problems such as air pollution, deforestation and water pollution. Air pollution has become a real concern in Thailand, only because countries around the world have outsourced and built manufacturing plants in Thailand, but more specifically in Bangkok. This allowed Bangkok to become Thailand's largest city and the largest contributor to the country's air pollution.
