However, the proposal for a high dose of vitamin C has not been received positively, as it is often considered one of the most controversial proposals in 20th century science. Despite the evidence offered by Pauling, many scientists of the time considered this idea too "simplistic"; The proposal for high-dose vitamin C continued to be ignored for most of the 20th century. It was not until Pauling's death that this topic was examined in more depth. Many 21st century discoveries have confirmed Linus Pauling's proposition almost 70 years ago. Not only has vitamin C in high doses been shown to be a very effective preventative measure, but it also has anti-cancer properties. These results intrigued us to further examine the correlation between melanoma and a high dose of vitamin C.
