    This was well demonstrated during one of the first scenes where the members of the Nazi party make lists of every citizen who identifies as Jewish. They used typewriters and the camera was fixed on typing each name. There is a similar scene later in the film where Oskar dictates names while Stern types them. The camera angle is once again fixed on all these Jewish names. These two scenes consisting of written words are very similar in their description but significantly different in their context. Hitler's list and Schindler's list, that is to say, one is a list of death, the other a list of life. As Stern says: “The list is absolutely good. The list is life. All around its margins extends the gulf. as opposed to Hitler's list which represents absolute evil. The use of writing effectively demonstrates the emergence of liberation in a time of despair with the contrast of these two lists.
