“Homage to my hips” by Lucille Clifton, is a poem where she proudly describes her hips. She states that her hips are big hips and need more room to move, she also affirms the magic and freedom of her hips; which means they have powerful hips and can go wherever they want. From this brief summary, Lucille Clifton uses allusions and metaphors to describe how she strongly accepts her body. The fact that she repeated the word "hips" in her poem demonstrates neglect of what people think of her, which is a positive behavior. And so, improving the mentality is accepting physicality.
