Amy Tan creates extraordinary works because of her own personal experiences in stories. She believes that inspiration is not a person, but rather the "personal process of synthesizing your life with the work before you" (opposite 250). Amy believes that her inspiration is a combination of her own life, that of her mother and grandmother and something that is still unknown and hidden. Throughout her writings, she tries to answer questions that deserve to be answered and that take a lifetime to answer (Opposite 297). She uses aspects of her family's life, her own life as a person of Chinese descent, and her connection to the "World of Yin" as influences in her stories. Amy Tan uses her personal experiences as a Chinese American to convey loneliness. , isolation and other concepts that she believes are necessary to create human connections with everyone. Both of Amy Tan's parents were Chinese immigrants and she was born in Oakland, California in 1952 (Source). Being Chinese and constantly on the run, Amy always felt like an outsider. Amy was a shy child for most of her childhood due to her family's traditions and habits, but she eventually realized as an adult that everyone feels isolated; she was not the only one (Opposite 121). She then wanted to convey her feelings through her stories. The fact that for most of her childhood she felt alone and isolated, she wanted her characters to experience the same emotions. Amy wanted to show her audience that many people experience these kinds of emotions and that it's what makes human connections stronger. Amy also reflects on her memories of being a rebel during her teenage years. At this point in her life, Amy decided to rebel because she had a middle of paper. Her mother had a strong impact on her life, which is why she decided to describe them in her stories. . His questions regarding life and death are integrated into his works with the Chinese tradition of life, the "World of Yin" and powerful themes. She also uses relationships throughout all her works which are relevant and realistic. Amy explores courage, beliefs, love, hope but also the ability to overcome certain obstacles. Finally, she inserts common literary themes such as sexism, identity, and destiny into her works so that the reader can connect with certain characters. The characters in her stories are mostly Chinese-American, as she uses them to explore cultural changes and how those changes can affect identity. Destiny is an important theme and Any Tan clearly expresses her idea that destiny does exist, but one cannot let it take over one's life..
