    Expressive conversation is verbal communication whose goal is to express emotions and build relationships (Interpersonal Communication page 59). Taryn and I have always been this way in our friendship. This specifically happens at work when we have an argument or problem with our boss. She always sympathizes with my feelings when something goes wrong and when something happens to her, I am always by her side. Since starting this course, I have learned techniques to strengthen communication in my interpersonal relationships. School is definitely something I enjoy sharing with Taryn. Now that I understand the difference between hearing and listening, our relationship has learned new effective listening skills. The HURIER model is an acronym designating different stages of effective listening. They consist of hearing, understanding, memorizing, interpreting, evaluating and responding (Interpersonal Communication page 223). In our daily communication, we put these six into practice
