    The World Filled with Domestic ViolenceDuring the 1980s and 1900s, domestic violence was one of the most underreported crimes involving women and men being injured and dying. Kicking, choking, killing, and uttering harsh or derogatory words that could physically or emotionally harm victims are considered domestic violence. In fact, many victims are afraid to seek help. According to “The Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC), women account for approximately 85 percent of all domestic violence, with women ages 20 to 24 at greatest risk” (Batten, para. 16). Most pregnant women are also at risk. “But the underlying approach remains one that assumes that the perpetrators are men and the victims are women” (Haugen, para. 1). Additionally, both men and women believe that domestic violence is a solution to their problems.
