    The term “religion” can be defined in many ways, so there is no definitive way to describe the term. Religion is therefore “any specific system of belief concerning a deity, often involving rituals, a code of ethics and a philosophy of life”. The world's population, approximately 6.5 billion people, is linked in one way or another to specific geopolitical and sociocultural aspects that unite them. There are a number of religions in the world today, the five largest in terms of population representation being: - Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. Each having evolved in its own way, some have remained intact while others have split into different factions for a number of reasons, with examples seen in the Christian and Islamic religions. These major religions have had strong representations, reduced on a regional basis, where some are the main or only religious representations of these regions. Confucianism and Buddhism are widely represented in the Asia-Pacific region, the Hindu religion is widely represented in the India region, Christianity is in Europe, North and South America and Sub-Saharan Africa and Islam is strongly represented in the Middle and Far East. and in North Africa. The world's different religions have had significant impacts on the geopolitics of different regions, with the impacts and results being felt in their social fabric.
