Structural Functional Theory is based on the concept that society is separated into several parts, with each part performing a particular task that works with and balances all other parts. As far as this article is concerned, Caucasian students are one part, minority students are another, and the education system is the third. The role of students is to participate and learn while progressing through the education system. This function can only be fulfilled if the education system fulfills its role of providing academic development opportunities to ALL students.
