He also suffers from prostate cancer for which he takes vitamin D supplements and an injection every six months. As noted in Chapter 3, Physical Aging, there are respiratory changes. The maximum amount of oxygen that can be delivered to the lungs with deep breathing decreases, among other things, with age. He said that when reflecting on his experience of aging, if he could give advice to his younger self, he would say, "Don't smoke."
