    Domination RapeIn today's society, marital rape, acquaintance rape and stranger rape are a huge crime all over the world. There is a difference between marital rape, acquaintance rape and stranger rape. Martial rape occurs when a spouse forces you to have sex without their consent, and the woman is expected to do her “duty” as a wife to have sex with her husband. Acquaintance rape involves someone you just met, or dated in the past, or even a fiancé. Stranger rape occurs when someone you've never met forces sex on someone without their consent. Due to our patriarchal society, marital rape has become an accepted and neglected part of society. Whether rape is a sexual, sexism or domination crime, it is a serious crime and should not be taken lightly. The effects this has on the person attacked are not only physical, but also mental. A patriarchal society is predominantly male. It is a society in which men are associated with power and prestige in society. Our culture is a patriarchal culture. Men are expected to lead and dominate in a relationship. It is the expected norm in our culture for men to be the head of a household and a marriage. In a patriarchal society, men dominate and rule, and it is human nature for men to be stronger, more often than not. They lead with their physical strength, their intellect, their facts and their skills rather than with their emotions. Humans have not always been patriarchal in nature. In prehistoric hunter-gatherer societies, human societies were relatively egalitarian. Men and women had equal status and power in society. Patriarchal society developed much later, and is believed to have developed through a series of events over the course of humans... middle of paper ... hey know, that by someone 'one they don't know. In recent years, law enforcement officials and judges have taken necessary steps to protect our nation's women from their abusers (Glazer S). someone they know, because they don't know the person who sexually assaulted them. But if they are attacked by a family member, friend or neighbor, they tend to keep it a secret because they might be afraid of what they might do or if anyone might believe them. 4 percent of women will be raped by someone they don't know, then by someone they know (MANN). The victim must struggle with the feeling of having been betrayed of their trust and can lead to deeper emotional and spiritual scars which can leave physical scars and the humiliation of being raped by a stranger..
